Designing Quality Matters-Certified Courses

In my role as an instructional designer at UNF, I collaborate with faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Education to develop online courses that meet Quality Matters standards. I guide faculty through the full QM design and review process, whether their course is intended for internal review or national Quality Matters certification. My work emphasizes accessibility and clear alignment among objectives, activities, and assessments, and the selection of accessible instructional materials such as peer‑reviewed articles, lectures, educational videos, and more. I regularly manage multiple course developments each semester while supporting faculty throughout every stage of the design process.

Please note: As course materials are university‑owned and created in partnership with faculty, I cannot share internal ID content, but I’m always happy to talk more about my work at welizabeths128 [at] gmail [.] com.

Other Projects: Training Faculty, Job Aids, and More

I also support several additional instructional design initiatives at UNF.

I train faculty on best practices for online teaching through our Teaching Online Foundation course, which is offered twice each semester. Relatedly, I provide training on accessibility standards in preparation for the upcoming ADA Title II requirements. This work includes developing resources for faculty, such as an article on effective strategies for decluttering their courses in the most accessible way possible.

I have created job aids to support faculty in developing Quality Matters–certified courses, including a customized Course Map that guides them through the design process for both internal and national QM courses. I have also applied this document to the development of courses in our Open Educational Resources initiative.

Recently, I have contributed to the development of UNF’s Digital Badging courses, which are offered to both UNF and non‑UNF learners.

My daily toolkit includes Canvas LMS, DesignPlus/CidiLabs, Articulate 360, Canva, ClickUp, and additional platforms that support accessible, high‑quality course development.

Other Instructional Design Work

I’ve also created courses and training materials for private companies and organizations. Most recently, I developed accessible Articulate Rise courses for the Department of Transportation while serving as an instructional designer through a contracted role. I’m now expanding my freelance work through Taproot as well. To learn more about my private projects, feel free to contact me at welizabeths128 [at] gmail [.] com.
